1946 - Graduate of Moscow State Conservatoire named after P.I.Chaikovsky, teacher on composition class of Azerbaijan State Conservatory, State prize winner for the opera "Vatan", awarded a medal "For Distinguished Labor", government member of Organizational Committee of the Union of the USSR Composers.

1948 - management member of the Union of the USSR Composers, docent of Azerbaijan State Conservatoire, delegate of the 1st National USSR Congress of the Soviet Composers, State prize laureate for the symphonic poem "Leyli and Majnun", Head of the Music section of Azerbaijan Architecture and Art Institute.

1949 - Director of Azerbaijan State Conservatoire named after U.Hajibeyov - till 1953, enrolment to the Communist Party of the USSR.

1952 - management chairman of the Union of Composers of the Azerbaijan SSR, member of the State Committee of Struggle for Peace, trip to the Democratic Republic of Albania as a member of the Soviet Culture and Art delegation.

1918 - Gara Abulfaz Garayev was born on 5th of December in Baku.

1926 - pupil of the music school within Azerbaijan State Conservatoire.

1930 - student of Baku Music Labour Faculty on the basis of Azerbaijan State Conservatoire on piano class (professor G. G. Sharoyev).

1937 - member of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan.

1938 - student of Moscow State Conservatoire named after P. I. Chaikovski on composition class (professor A. N. Alexandrov ) in 1940.

1941 - return to Baku, artistic instructor of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society named after M. Magomayev.

1944 - vice-chairman in management of the Union of Azerbaijan Composers, again a student of Moscow State Conservatoire named after P.I.Chaikovski on composition class (professor D. D. Shostakovich ) - till 1946. Awarded a medal "For defense of Caucasus".

 

1953 - delegate of the IV USSR Conference of Peace supporters, premier of the ballet "Seven beauties" at the Leningrad State Small Opera Theatre.

1954 - member of the Committee of Lenin and State prizes of the USSR - till 1982.

1955 - Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR, member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (IV convocation) - till 1959.

1956 - 1-st secretary of the Union of Composers - till 1973.

1957 - member of the Union of Cinemographies, delegate of the USSR Festival II of Soviet films for music to the film "Two from a Block", member of Executive Board of the USSR composers - till 1962.

1958 - National artist of the Azerbaijan SSR, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR ( V convocation), laureate of the USSR Festival II of Soviet films (Kiev) for music to the "On distant coasts" film.

1959 - National artist of the USSR, professor of the Composition department of Azerbaijan State Conservatoire named after U.Hajibeyov, a real member of Academy of Science of the Azerbaijan SSR., tour to Czekhoslovakia for premiere of the "Seven beauties" ballet (Prague, Bratislava, Brno).

1961 - participant of the 1-st International Festival of Modern Music in Los-Angeles (USA) with performance of the Second Suite from the ballet "Through path of thunder", awarded the Red Banner prize.

1962 - member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR ( VI convocation), delegate of the 2- nd Congress of Composers of the USSR, 1-st secretary of the Union of the USSR Composers, delegate of the 3- rd USSR Congress of Composers, jury member of the 2- nd International Competition named after P.I. Chaikovski, visit to the USA on delegation of public figures of the Soviet Culture and Art.

 

1963 - visit to the Arabian Republic of Egypt in connection with perfomance of the "Seven beauties" ballet in Cairo on the stage of the Leningrad Small Opera Theatre.

1964 - visit to the Musical Festival of Modern Music "Warsaw Path" (Poland) in connection with the performance of the ballet "Through path of thunder" during the guest performances of the Bolshoi Theatre of the USSR.

1965 - M. F. Akhundov prize laureate for music to the performance of "Anthony and Kleopatra" premiere of the 3-rd Symphony in Moscow - April, 21, 1-st performance of the 3-rd Symphony in Baku - June 2.

1966 - member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (VII convocation), member of jury of the 2nd USSR Congress of Conductors, tour to Spain on the delegation of the Soviet Culture and Art, premiere of "Classical suite" in Baku.

1967 - Lenin prize laureate for the ballet "Through path of thunder", awarded the Lenin prize.

1968 - premiere of the Violin concert in Gorkiy - April, 21, the 1-st perfomance in Moscow - April, 28.

1969 - tour to Paris to the World Dance Festival with the "Seven beauties" ballet and music production of the symphonic poem "Leyli and Majnun", tour to Japan on the delegation of public figures of the Soviet Culture and Art.

1970 - deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (VIII convocation).

1971 - tour to the Democratic Republic of Germany on the delegation of producer group of "Lenfilm" for work on music of the film "Goya", rewarded the October Revolution prize.

1972 - tour to Poland for participation in the Congress of Secretariats of the Union of Composers of the USSR and in the Festival of Modern Music "Autumn in Warsaw", member of jury of the 2-nd International Ballet Competition in Moscow.

1973 - Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (IX convocation), member of jury of the 5- th International Competition named after P.I. Chaikovski in Moskow, visit to Turkey for participation in the Congress "Modality in music" (Istanbul).

1976 - tour to Italy for the participation in the work of the Symposium "Training of young Composers" in the Pezaro city, as well as in collaborative meeting of the Soviet and Italian composers.

1978 - hero of Socialist Labour, tour to Paris for participation in work of the Congress of the World Agency of Author Rights, premiere of the musical "Furious Gascon" in perfomance of the Moscow Opera Theatre.

1982 - died on May 13 in Moscow and buried in Baku, in the Alley of Honor Burring.
